Book References

I do not always want to spend time scouring the internet for exactly what I need. I have created an arsenal in my library that has helped me tremendously to fuel my creativity. Some of these books include figure drawing, art history, reference photos, medium use, and design. Some of these books are from my college days and others are from my personal collection.

Artistic Anatomy by Paul Richer

This was one of my college textbooks for my figure drawing class. It is a great book to learn from one of the greatest artistic anatomy teachers. It provides the skeletal and musculature structures of the body.

Atlas of Human Anatomy by Stephen Rogers Peck

This anatomy book is great for figure studies. It provides pictures of models in several different poses and lighting.

The Organic Artist by Nick Neddo

This book is great for people who do not have easy access to art supplies. It is also a great way to learn how to make paints, pigments, and materials from around you.

The Painter’s Handbook by Mark David Gottsegen

This book is a great overall explanation of everything painting. It provides details of when and why to use materials and how to use them.

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield

Every artist has or is currently struggling through artist blocks. This book has helped me stopped this and continue expressing my creativity.
